Criminal Investigations

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is the primary investigative unit for the department. The detectives specialize in and are assigned specific types of crimes: property, financial and crimes against people. Due to the sometimes complicated nature of these crimes, the work necessary to bring about the successful conclusion may take a tremendous number of hours, days or even months of investigative work. The Crime Scene Specialist maintains over 8000 pieces of evidence / property from a tiny splatter of blood to a large bumper removed from a car.

The Criminal Investigations Division has 15 members including Major Luckie Carey, Lieutenant Charles Harting and Sergeants John Elliott and Nancy Zellers., 9 Detectives and 3 civilian employees: an Investigative Assistant, Crime Scene Specialist, and a Property Room Clerk. One detective is assigned to the Hamilton  County Metro Internet crimes Against Children Task Force.
