Carmel City Hall Remains Ope
with some employees working remotely
Carmel, IN – It is important that we react to this pandemic responsibly, taking the precautions we feel will allow us to continue providing the highest quality service while keeping the safety of the public and our employees in mind. Therefore, those workers whose jobs don’t require face-to-face interactions with the public and can perform their functions remotely are being asked to do so until at least Wednesday, March 18th. At that time, the city will re-evaluate the situation to see if extended social distancing is favored over direct interaction.
“Now that there has been a confirmed case in Hamilton County, we need to take further precautions because we still are unclear how far the virus has spread. We are concerned that our health care systems will be overburdened with cases if we don’t take some action to slow the progress of the virus. Social distancing has been recommended when possible in order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We have several employees whose jobs can be accomplished remotely, so that makes the most sense for now,” said Mayor Jim Brainard.
If you have business at City Hall, please contact the person via phone or email to determine if there is an alternative option for accomplishing the work. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult national crisis.
