    City of Carmel’s Veterans Day Ceremony - Noon on Friday, November 9, 2012

    Mayor Jim Brainard and members of local veterans organizations have worked together to put on this community event in honor of our veterans. Participants include Mayor Jim Brainard, Brigadier General James L. Bauerle, Retired as keynote speaker, Carmel VFW/American Legion Honor Guard, the Carmel Elementary School Choir and the Actors Theatre of Indiana’s own “Andrews Sisters.”

    Carmel Police Department reports Serious Injury Crash

    On October 22, 2012 at approximately 1:45pm the Carmel Police Department responded to a crash in the area Springmill Road and 141st Street. A 1986 Ford dump truck was southbound on Springmill approaching the roundabout at 141st Street when the brakes possibly failed. The driver was unable to get the vehicle stopped before entering the roundabout and it rolled onto its side.

What many residents may not know is that thanks to Mayor Brainard's leadership in sustainability and energy conservation the City of Carmel was recently designated as a Green Community by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns.

    Heartland Truly Moving Pictures and the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative are partnering for a new film series launching the weekend of Nov. 15-17. The Great American Songbook Movie Series, presented by Printing Partners, will bring classic Truly Moving Picture Award-winning movies to the big screen on the stage of the Palladium concert hall. The partnership will kick-off with screenings of “White Christmas,” “The Sound of Music,” “An American in Paris” and an audience sing-a-long of “The Wizard of Oz.”

    Removal of Stoplight at 98th Street and Keystone Parkway

    Carmel, IN – The traffic signal at 98th Street and Keystone Parkway will be permanently removed on Wednesday, September 26th, during off-peak traffic hours. Access to and from 98th Street will be converted to a right-in/right-out for both the north and southbound Keystone Parkway traffic.

    In New York, there will be moments of silence to signal the times of impact of each plane: at 8:46 a.m ET, 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. Additional silences will be observed at 9:59 a.m. and 10:28 a.m., when the South and North Towers fell.

    Standard & Poor’s: Carmel’s Financial Rating Remains Strong

    CARMEL, Ind. – A recent evaluation of Carmel’s refinancing package by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) anticipates no change from Carmel’s current “AA+” rating. “It really substantiates that the City of Carmel is not in any dire financial situation based on independent, impartial and comparative analyses by an international bond rating agency,” said Loren Matthes, principal with H. J. Umbaugh & Associates Certified Public Accountants.
