“CarmelCAN!” Volunteer
Drive
Carmel, IN –
“CarmelCAN!” is seeking volunteers to help various
not-for-profit organizations and assist with exciting events
in Carmel.
“CarmelCAN!” is a volunteer initiative launched by Mayor
Jim Brainard in 2004, to recognize and coordinate community
volunteers. Through this initiative, citizens looking for
community involvement opportunities are matched up with
organizations that are in need of volunteers.
Rosemary Conard is the new volunteer coordinator for“CarmelCAN!”
Rosemary has been a Carmel resident for more than 51 years
and is a volunteer herself. She came forward to help with
“CarmelCAN!” because she was looking for a way to give
back to her community and help others to do the same. Those
interested in volunteering should give her a call, and she
will find you a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity in
our local community. She can be reached at (317) 814-1111 or
at rconard@carmel.in.gov. Organizations looking for
volunteers should also contact Rosemary to make sure your
organization is included on the
“CarmelCAN!” website.
Available volunteer opportunities include assisting with
seasonal events (such as, Arbor Day, Farmers Market,
Carmelfest, the Fire Department’s Christmas Assistance
Program, just to name a few) and ongoing volunteer
opportunities with local not-for-profit organizations
(including the Carmel Clay Parks Department, Carmel Clay
Public Library, Carmel Symphony, Community Caring
Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Inspirations of Hamilton
County, and many more). Additional volunteer opportunities
are listed on the
“CarmelCAN!” website at
www.carmelcan.com.
The website indicates whether the volunteer opportunity is
in the City of Carmel, Hamilton County or Central Indiana.
Also, volunteers’ efforts will not go unnoticed because they
will have the chance to be one of the individuals recognized
on “Connecting with Carmel” on the Government Cable Channel
16. Each month, co-host Jeff Worrell spotlights Carmel
volunteers in order to recognize them for their
contributions in making our community a better place to
live. Doug Kemp, owner of Dooley O’Toole’s on Carmel Drive,
generously awards every
“CarmelCAN!” featured volunteer of the month a gift
certificate for two free dinners and an appetizer at his
restaurant. Give Rosemary a call and you could be the next
community volunteer to be recognized!
