Club Carmel, IN - The Rotary Club of Carmel and the City of Carmel are proud to be hosting the visiting GSE team from eastern Africa from April 24th to April 28th. The team members include team leader, Alex Nyaga, Kenya; team members, James Osundwa, Kenya; Kheri Yussuf, Tanzania; Samuel Dawa, Uganda; and Lula Tewfik, Ethiopia. Rotary International and many of its clubs worldwide participate in a vocational and cultural exchange known as Group Study Exchange (GSE). This program enables four young professionals to travel with a Rotarian team leader to another part of the world to learn about their vocation and that country’s culture. During the team’s visit to Carmel they will be touring Carmel High School and the Carmel Clay Public Library as well as spending a relaxing weekend in their Carmel host family homes. For their vocational visits they will be shadowing professionals in the City’s GIS Department, the City’s Community Relations Department and art gallery managers in the Arts & Design District. On Friday, April 25th they will be making a presentation to the Rotary Club of Carmel at Oakhill Mansion at noon. While the Africa team is here in Carmel, former Clay Township Trustee and resident, Judy Hagan, is leading a group of Central Indiana professionals on a GSE exchange in eastern Africa. “The City of Carmel and Carmel Rotary are proud to be part of this premier global exchange program. This is a great international education opportunity for those who take part in the program and for those who have offered to host them,” said Mayor Brainard. For additional information or to attend the April 25th Rotary presentation, please contact Sue Maki at 571-2673 or smaki@carmel.in.gov.
