Carmel Fire Chief Appoints Pastor Doug
Kizer as Chaplain
Carmel, IN – Last week, Carmel Fire Chief Keith Smith
appointed Pastor Doug Kizer to the position of Chaplain for
the Carmel Fire Dept.
Chaplain Kizer is on staff at Northview Christian Life
Church at 131st and Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel. He
specializes in pastoral care for the church body and has
extensive training for his current full-time position as an
ordained minister. He has previously served as a Chaplain
with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department and Hamilton
County Sheriff’s Department. He also has 17 years experience
as a public servant with Delaware County EMS, Delaware
County Sheriff’s Department and Yorktown Police Department.
“We’re pleased to welcome Chaplain Kizer to the Carmel Fire
Department. His credentials make him a great fit for the
department. In this position, he will provide an invaluable
role for our community by helping our firefighters and EMS
professionals deal with the pressures of the job as well as
reaching out to community members who are negatively
impacted by fire or personal tragedy,” said Chief Keith
