Teams of students from Carmel High School and Clay Middle

veterans. Patriotic music at the ceremony will be provided
by Carmel Elementary music teacher, Cynthia Ensign Baney.
Also attending the ceremony will be members of the local
American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts.
Monday, May 26th there will be services honoring the many
veterans who have fought and died for our country four
Hamilton County Cemeteries. The VFW Post 10003 of Carmel,
VFW Post 10207 of Westfield, and the American Legion Post

The first service begins at 9 a.m. at the Hamilton Memorial
Park Cemetery, located between Westfield and Noblesville on
State Road 32. There will be a service at 10 a.m. at the
Little Eagle Creek Cemetery on Little Eagle Creek Avenue in
Westfield. The third service will be held at Old Blue

106th Street and Keystone Avenue in Carmel. The last service
will be held at noon at the Carmel Cemetery on North Range
Line Road at 136th Street in Carmel. There will also be a
special remembrance for Prisoners of War (POW) and those
Missing in Action (MIA) at the VFW Post 10003 located on 34
First Avenue Northwest in Carmel, followed by a cookout
beginning at 1 p.m.
“We are fortunate to have so many soldiers in our past and
our present who have fought bravely and sacrificed many
things, including their lives, for our freedom. Memorial Day
is a special day where we honor those who have served, and
thank them for all they have given us. It is important,
especially during this time of National conflict, to
remember these brave men and women and their families,” said
Mayor Jim Brainard.
One way to remember those who have served is through the
engraved bricks at Veterans Plaza. Brick pavers are now
available for purchase through the City of Carmel. Recognize
your loved ones on Memorial Day by purchasing a personalized
brick paver to be placed at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. All
proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the Veterans
Plaza which includes updating the flags, preservation of the
statue and funding of the brick pavers. Please contact
Melanie Lentz at 571-2474 or
mlentz@carmel.in.gov
to place an order or for more information.
