City of Carmel’s Public
Safety Day 2007
Carmel, IN – The Carmel Clay Fire
Department, Carmel Police Department, Carmel Clay
Communication Center and St. Vincent Carmel Hospital, the
main sponsor of the event, are hosting this year’s Public
Safety Day, Saturday, September 29th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
in the St. Vincent Carmel Hospital west parking lot located
at 13500 N. Meridian Street in Carmel. This is a free event
and everyone is welcome.
Safety Day will include educational booths by local
businesses and organizations designed to teach children and
families basic safety techniques in a wide range of topics.
Activities at each booth or area will give children and
adults a chance to test their knowledge, or ask questions
about a given safety concern. Booths and activities include
but are not limited to: Carmel Fire and Police Equipment,
K-9 Demo, Vehicle Extrication Demo, Bicycle and Pedestrian
Safety, Disaster Kits, Car Seat Clinic, When to use 9-1-1,
Public Safety Helicopters, Military Protection and Safety,
Big Wheel Race, Family Balloon Toss, and Family Escape
Plans. Many departments from the City of Carmel are
participating in this year’s event by educating the public:
Street Department on street maintenance, Utilities on
drinking water safety, and Household Hazardous Waste on home
hazardous waste disposal.
“As in the past, our goal is for the families to leave
Safety Day knowing more than they did when they arrived.
Together we can teach, reinforce, and introduce safety
concerns to all those in attendance,” said Keith Freer,
Carmel Fire Dept. Public Education Division. For more
information about Public Safety Day please call Keith Freer
at 571-4245.
St. Vincent Carmel Hospital is the main sponsor of this
year’s Public Safety Day. St. Vincent Health is the state’s
largest healthcare employer, with 17 health ministries
serving 45 counties in central Indiana.
