100 Trees in 100 Days Planting a Tree in Carmel

Carmel, IN - As it celebrates its 100th anniversary of tree and shrub care expertise and service, Bartlett Tree Experts’ office in Carmel is embracing the community with a ceremonial tree planting at 116th Street on the East side of the Monon Trail. The event is part of Bartlett’s international effort, 100 Trees in 100 Days, spanning four countries, to promote healthy trees and communities.

Carmel has been the recipient of a Tree City USA Growth Award for the past 13 years. This award is given to communities that have demonstrated progress in community forestry programs in the areas of partnerships, engineering/forestry coordination, planning and management, and standards and specifications. The prestigious Growth Award recognizes environmental improvement and higher levels of tree care in Tree City USA communities. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in corporation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

“Carmel is honored to be a part of this world-wide celebration of Bartlett Tree Experts’ anniversary. We are proud to be counted among the cities participating in this event that highlights the importance of trees in our community. Carmel is committed to preserving an enhancing its tree canopy and works closely with engineers and developers to ensure that attention is paid to trees and landscaping during road projects and neighborhood development,” said Ron Carter, City Councilman at Large.

Bartlett Tree Experts, specialists in tree and shrub care, is marking its centennial with this series of events at sites across the United States, Canada, England, and Ireland, involving each branch office, hundreds of employees and thousands of community members. One hundred trees are to be planted at locations around the world, making it the largest integrated event in the company’s history. Locations in cities large and small — ranging from metropolises such as Dallas to locales like Fishersville, Va. — are involved in the project, which promotes environmental sustainability and responsibility.

“We are proud of the work we do in this community, and all Bartlett communities. We believe we have a responsibility to help preserve the communities and environments where we live and work while providing the best care for our clients’ trees,” says Robert A. Bartlett Jr., chairman of Bartlett Tree Experts. “For 100 years, we have been leaders in the science and technology of tree care. This type of forward thinking has guided us for the first century of our existence, and continues to do so.”
