Needed for the
Carmel Fire Department’s Christmas Assistance Program

Carmel, IN – The Carmel Fire
Department (CFD) is organizing their annual
Christmas Assistance Program (CAP), which helps families
and children living in Hamilton County that need assistance
this holiday season. The CFD operates a Clothe-A-Child
program for school children in need. Likewise, the CFD
receives names of families from the Hamilton County Good
Samaritan Organization and works to find sponsors for those
families living in Clay Township and deliver food baskets to
those families. The CFD also welcomes any monetary donations
to help purchase food and clothing for their programs.
First, the CFD coordinates its Clothe-A-Child program, which
provides new winter clothes for children from Clay Township.
Volunteers are needed to assist in helping children pick out
clothing at the Meijer store in Carmel on Wednesday,
December 5th beginning at 8:30 a.m. To volunteer to help
with the Clothe-A-Child program, please contact Gary Carter
at 571-2667.
Second, sponsors are needed to provide gifts to be given to
the families in need this Christmas. Registration for
sponsorship ends Friday, December 7th and the deadline to
return all gifts for sponsored families is Wednesday,
December 12th. To sponsor a family, please call the CFD
Christmas Assistance Program line at 571-2690 ext. 7000 or
visit the website at
http://www.carmel.in.gov/services/fire/pblcdctndivision3.html
for a
sponsor form.
Last, gifts provided by the sponsors and food will be
delivered to the families on Saturday, December 15th
starting at 9 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering to
deliver these items to the families, please call Keith Freer
at 571-4245 or e-mail at
kfreer@carmel.in.gov
.
If you know of a family in need, please have them register
with The Hamilton County Good Samaritan organization at
773-5030. This will ensure that the families in need are in
a countywide database, and are not overlooked or
inadvertently duplicated. Volunteers that would like to
assist a particular family registered with The Good
Samaritan Organization should make that request when calling
the CFD to sign up as a sponsor.
