Carmel’s Memorial Day Ceremony
What: The City of Carmel will be holding a Memorial Day Ceremony to remember those who have served our country. The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments provided.
When: Friday, May 25th at 9 a.m.
Where: Carmel Clay Veterans Memorial Plaza located near the SW corner of Third Avenue SW and City Center Drive in City Center
Rain location: The Tarkington Theater at The Center for The Performing Arts, Three Center Green, Carmel
Who: The ceremony includes remarks by Mayor Jim Brainard and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Carmel Clay Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Swensson. The keynote speaker will be Major General Robert Nester, U.S.A.F. Retired and Carmel resident.
Members of the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts will participate in a flag raising ceremony and flowers will be placed at the Memorial to commemorate all military veterans. Patriotic music at the ceremony will be provided by Carmel Elementary music teacher, Cynthia Ensign Baney.
Background: Memorial Day is a special day when we honor all those brave military personnel who have served and sacrificed and thank them for all they have given us.
