Carmel Police Department’s School Resource Unit Awarded the Prestigious NASRO 2012 Model Agency Award
The School Resource Unit of the Carmel Police Department, which serves the Carmel Clay School District, has been named by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) as their 2012 Model Agency and received the award at the National School Resource Officer Conference.
The prestigious NASRO Model Agency award is awarded annually to law enforcement agencies that have shown excellence in several areas while implementing or maintaining a model school resource officer program. Recipients have shown a willingness to be proactive in their training, comprehensive in their policies, demonstrated excellence in their daily operation, and have brought recognition to the SRO program. Previous award winners have included departments such as: Sacramento, CA Police Department, Tucson, AZ Police Department, Broward Co. FL Sheriff’s Office, and the Sioux Falls, SD Police Department.
Chief Tim Green stated, “This award is a reflection of the dedication these Officers commit to our school resource unit in their day-to-day activities; along with the team efforts between the Carmel Clay School District and the Carmel Police Department, both of which have enabled this program to achieve this level of national recognition. We are proud of these Officers and all those involved in supporting the SRO program. We will continue to work with the Carmel Clay Schools to do our part in providing a positive and safe learning environment”.
