In January 2004, Ron Carter began his third term as an At-Large member of City Council. In that capacity he represents all the citizens of Carmel, rather than a single district. Ron remains dedicated to developing and expanding our park and trail system, the preservation and redevelopment of the Old Town area, and the completion of the City Center project. He is a staunch advocate for well-planned and controlled commercial/retail and residential growth.

An avid bike rider, Ron has worked to make sure that bicycle and pedestrian facilities have been added to the city wherever possible.

During his first two terms, Ron was instrumental in helping the Mayor complete the Monon Trail in Carmel. He has also been very involved in the redevelopment of Old Town and City Center, serving as president of the Carmel Redevelopment Commission.

Ron is a founding member of the Carmel Farmers Market, currently serving as president and market master. He was also a founding member of the Monon Greenway Committee and the Hamilton County Alternative Transportation Task Force. He is involved in many other volunteer activities, including Carmel Rotary. He was named the 2006 winner of the Most Valuable Volunteer Award given by the Carmel Chamber of Commerce.

Ron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Indiana University. The majority of his business career has been spent in marketing, marketing communications and sales. He is married to Barbara and has three grown daughters along with ten grandchildren.
