About Carmel Mayor's Youth Council (CMYC)
By Jeff Hou
Carmel Mayor's Youth Council (CMYC), an organization operated by youth leaders in cooperation with the Carmel mayor and City officials, provides Carmel youth with the opportunity to engage with City leaders and connect with their peers. The council works with the City officials to identify and address relevant community issues that affect young people.

The Carmel Mayor's Youth Council, a diverse group of students from across Carmel which serves as the voice of Carmel youth within City government, works with the Mayor and Carmel City officials to encourage a teen-friendly community and an active youth role in the community.

Responsibilities of the Council include developing City policies focused on youth issues, organizing youth-related community events, encouraging and establishing a tradition of youth participation in the community. Selected based on proven leadership skills, extracurricular and community involvement, academic achievement, and excellence in a given field, CMYC members share the community leaders' vision of an active and empowered youth population.
