The City of Carmel has been recognized for excellence in many aspects of its planning, development, implementation and service. Carmel's work force is well trained and dedicated to providing the highest level of service to residents, businesses and visitors to our community. This work has been recognized by various organizations locally, nationally and internationally and we have provided a list of some of those awards below.

Mayor Jim Brainard  -

  • 2015 - #8 Safest Small Cities for Retirement by

  • 2007- Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (Crossroads of America Council)

  • 2012- Butler University Robert Todd Duncan Alumni Achievement Award 2012 – Public Service Award (American Council of Engineering Companies [ACEC] of Indiana)
  • 2013 - Joseph P. Riley Jr. Award – Honored at the 2013 International Making Cities Livable Conference with this award given to Mayor Jim Brainard for his inspirational leadership in creating a vibrant, multi-functional heart for the City of Carmel, Indiana through the development of City Center and the Arts & Design District including the Center for the Performing Arts.

  • 2010 - The Keystone Parkway project, specifically the roundabout interchanges at 106th and 126th Streets, was the top award winner at the 2010 Engineering Excellence Awards Sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana.
