All About .PDF Files:

The City of Carmel offers many of its public documents as PDF (Portable Document Format) files. Whenever you see one of these:

it means you can click on the file or icon to download the PDF source of the current document. PDF files can be read and printed with a free reader available from Adobe Systems. You can also configure your web browser to use the PDF reader as a helper application so you can view these files online.

Many city and state agencies provide copies of forms and documents on the web in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. To view PDF files, you will need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer.

Why is Carmel City Using PDF Files?

It can be difficult to share documents created in a particular software application on a particular
kind of computer with people who don't have copies of that software or who are using another
kind of computer. But when a document is made into a PDF (Portable Document Format) file,
people using Macintosh, UNIX, Windows PC, or other computers can view or print
that document
, whether or not they have the software used to create it. Because PDF files
are so portable, they are quickly becoming popular with Internet users.
