REVERSE 911

Carmel-Clay Communications continues to operate and maintain the Reverse 911 System that allows the community to be quickly called, by the 911 Center, to impart important pre-recorded voice information. This system also allows for the creation of special calling lists, and has the ability to draw a polygon around any Carmel area which then extracts residential telephone numbers from selected streets and calls each listed telephone number. This is extremely useful where a HAZMAT incident (e.g. chemical spill) occurs and evacuation becomes necessary. Reverse 911 is prepared with calling lists to mobilize key Carmel government personnel for Homeland Security and other emergency purposes.

Communications developed and implemented an automated PC training capability with practice scenarios. Each supervisor is required to practice monthly.

Two (2) persons (Supervisor & Assistant Supervisor) on each dispatch shift are fully prepared to implement the system.

Carmel Communication Center received recognition for its certification as an official Reverse 911 certified Site.
Coordination with GIS, SBC, and R911 continues to achieve common database terminologies and street naming conventions in order to assure that 911 telephone calling address information is properly overlaid upon the R911 geographic map.
