The Public Education Division is responsible for education of fire
and life safety to citizens in Carmel and Clay Township schools,
businesses, and community organizations.
The Public Education Division has many tools and programs in which
to deliver it's message to the public. The members of Public
Education put on demonstrations at all grade level schools, senior
citizen facilities, community organizations, and tours within our
own fire stations.
There are many programs that the Public Education Division manages,
here is a list of a few: WARN (Water Awareness in Residential
Neighborhoods), CAP (Christmas Assistance Program), Safety Trailer,
Survive Alive, Public Safety Day, CPR classes, Juvenile Fire Setter
Program, and smoke detector assistance.
The Public Information Officer works in coordination with the Public
Education Officer to disseminate information to the video and print
media.
The PIO does respond to working fires and special emergency runs to
help the on scene Incident Commander release accurate information to
the media. The PIO also creates press releases to keep the citizens
aware of daily activities of the Carmel Fire Department.
The Public Education Division also handles any special event that
the CFD is directly or indirectly involved with.
If you have any questions or inquires, or if you want to schedule a
demonstration or talk for a group in the Carmel/Clay community don't
hesitate to contact the Public Education Division at the numbers
listed above.
Don't
forget to check your smoke detector at least once a month, and
replace the battery twice a year.
