The 2007 Carmel Public Safety Day was a great success!! This year other city departments and businesses from the community joined the Carmel Police and Fire Departments in presenting health and safety tips, ideas, and presentations to the public.

This year the Safety Day was held at the  St. Vincent Carmel Hospital’s south parking lot where we had plenty of room, which will provide space for further expansion in upcoming years. St. Vincent Carmel Hospital was a significant sponsor and host this year supplying many resources to make the Safety Day a success.

There were many highlights throughout the day. A new aero medical transport company to the central Indiana area named PHI Air Medical provided a Bell helicopter and flight crew for the entire day to inform the public of their services. The Carmel Fire Department was well represented with an ambulance, engine, the HAZMAT, and the ladder on display. Likewise, an extrication demo was conducted during the middle of the day and kids were able to dress in fire gear and use fire hoses to extinguish pretend fire. The Carmel Police Department displayed numerous vehicles and equipment and conducted a k-9 demonstration. Furthermore, two water balloon tosses took place providing a lot of fun for the families that were in attendance. There were many other displays and events that contributed to make the day very informative to kids and their parents about the City of Carmel’s protective and health services.
