Carmel United Methodist Church is planning a community service in the Palladium at the Carmel Performing Arts Center, to be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 to mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragic attacks. The Music Ministry is assembling a chorus and orchestra to present Rene’ Clausen’s “Memorial”, a work commissioned by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in 2003. The music is both poignant and uplifting. The overriding theme is one of healing, cleansing, unity and hope, a theme which will be carried throughout the entire worship service.
The service will transcend just the performance of a beautiful musical work. One section of “Memorial” will feature interpretive dance. There will be hymns, testimonies, mini-messages, readings and several additional musical selections of varying genre. Artistic slides will accompany many of the service elements. An offering will be taken to benefit a chosen organization which supports the families of fallen first responders.
The service is open to the entire community. Palladium doors open at 10 AM. The concert hall opens at 10:30 AM.
