Carmel Police Department Responds to Gunshots
On December 8, 2021 at approximately 4:20 a.m., the Carmel Police responded to multiple calls of gunshots in the area of Main St. and 1st Ave NW. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male victim inside a business at 110 W. Main St. with a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers and medics from Carmel Fire Department rendered aid to the victim and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered a male subject that had been walking outside in the area, when he began to fire a gun indiscriminately into the building. That individual was found in the area shortly after the incident and taken into custody by CPD officers. He has been identified as 25-year-old Moses Shoaga of Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Shoaga has been charged with the following:
- Criminal Recklessness – Level 5 Felony
- Carrying a Handgun Without a License – A Misdemeanor
