The Advisory Committee on Disability was established through Ordinance No. D-2508-19 in Dec. 2019, to foster a culture of inclusivity within the City of Carmel. The Advisory Committee’s mission is to partner with community members, employers, and businesses to raise awareness, provide effective solutions, and increase opportunities for community members with disabilities to provide a high quality of life for all.

Meeting Dates

Meetings are held quarterly at 9:30am at the Carmel Clay Public Library, 425 E. Main Street in the Board Room. Meeting days vary each quarter.

Next meeting October 21, 2025 at 9:30am.

Carmel Disability Awareness Month

Carmel recognizes National Disability Awareness Month annually in March.
Help us bring awareness of what life is like for those with physical and intellectual disabilities by viewing, liking and sharing the videos below with others.

Events

  • Community Sensory Day
    Saturday, March 8, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
    Midtown Plaza

    Join us in Midtown Plaza for snacks courtesy of our city partners at BraunAbility, free giveaways and sensory activities, videos hosted by the Carmel Advisory Committee on Disability (CACD) and a family-friendly movie. 

  • Adaptive Virtual Art Exhibit 
    This annual virtual exhibit in partnership with the Carmel Arts Council, will be featured on the Midtown screen throughout the month of March with artists' works also featured in the City of Carmel weekly e-newsletter.

  • Carmel Clay Public Library
    March Disability Awareness Book List
    The library will share a list of recommended books to highlight authors with a disability or books with characters with a disability.
