The Board of Public Works and Safety (BPW) is responsible for a wide range of essential functions, including:

Public Safety: Overseeing both police and fire protection services to ensure the safety and security of the city's residents.

Infrastructure: Managing and maintaining public rights-of-way, public works projects and municipal water and sewer systems, ensuring the city's infrastructure is efficient and reliable.

Contractual Oversight: Approving city contracts that exceed a specific dollar amount, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.

Public Facility Use: Approving requests for public facility uses, including for public or private events, facilitating community engagement and economic development.
By effectively carrying out these functions, the BPW plays a vital role in the overall well-being and development of the City of Carmel.
