Mayor's Advisory Commission on Arts

The Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Arts was established in February 2024 through Executive Order SF-2024-01 to advise the Mayor on matters such as the allocation of funds to non-profit arts organizations, the procurement and installation of public art and the development of arts programming across the city.

Initiatives, Goals, Accomplishments

 

  • Public Art Maps

    • Public Art StoryMap - The interactive Public Art StoryMap catalogs Carmel’s public art and provides a dynamic, self-guided visual tour experience for the user to learn about existing public art in Carmel. 
    • Public Art Walking Tour - The tours are composed of two seamlessly connected segments, a one-mile route and a half-mile route (for the best experience, view on your mobile device).
    • Public Art Dashboard – The Public Art Dashboard offers more details about the artwork.

  • Reviews annual art grant applications and recommending grantees based on budget and needs

  • Working with City departments and art consultants to determine future acquisitions and locations for public art

  • Providing feedback on arts programming

  • Receiving and reporting input from the City on public art throughout Carmel
