Investing in the City of Carmel
Since taking office, Mayor Brainard and the City of Carmel have attracted businesses to the city and its Meridian Street Corridor, which houses the second highest concentration of office workers in the state of Indiana. Carmel is now home to more than 125 global, national or regional corporate headquarters. Mayor Brainard continues to find innovative ways to run the city more efficiently and cost-effectively.
When it came to bringing a new vision to the City’s central core, the Mayor effectively used Tax Incremental Financing and Public-Private Partnerships to transform economically challenged districts into thriving areas. Rather than settle for the status quo of empty store fronts and dying streets, these new areas have become thriving with new activity in the form of more dense, mixed-use developments that bring residents, retail and office space together and throws out old notions of zoning that separated these aspects of our community.
