Sue is deeply committed to her profession and her community. She was elected to the Carmel City Council in 2012 where she has served as president (2021, 2017), vice president (2020, 2016) and finance chair for several years. Carmel was named in 2012 and 2017 as the Best Place to Live in America.
Sue has held leadership positions in such organizations as the Hamilton County Economic Development Corporation, City of Carmel Economic Development Commission, the Carmel-Clay Kiwanis Club and that Association of Organ Procurement Organizations. She also co-founded the community music festival called Carmel Porchfest, and co-launched LetsTalkCarmel.com.
Sue boasts a diverse professional background that includes more than 20 years of marketing, business management and human resources leadership. Sue is the principal of Fire Starter LLC, which she founded in 2010 to provide marketing and public relations solutions to mission-based organizations. Current clients include Methodist Sports Medicine, Rejuvenate Kidney Transplant Solutions, Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation, Life Connection of Ohio, and iAIRE.
Sue has been recognized for her leadership abilities many times, including as a finalist for Indy’s Best and Brightest. Sue was also a member of the IU Tobias Fellowship program, and the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership program. She has a master’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University, a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Central Michigan University, and is also board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
She is most proud, however, of her family. They reside in northeast Carmel with their dogs Aubrey and Stetson. Sue’s husband is a mechanical engineer that owns and operates an outside air and energy solutions manufacturing facility. Their son is a Carmel High School graduate and studying business at Indiana University. They enjoy Carmel’s many amenities as well as their own back patio.
